The result is a calm, modern interior where natural materials and thoughtful detailing create a lasting sense of warmth and sophistication.

Continuing the design language established throughout the home, this bespoke staircase combines contemporary simplicity with finely crafted natural materials. Crafted from Scottish Elm and finished with Rubio Oil, the staircase celebrates the warmth and character of the timber, allowing its rich grain to become a defining architectural feature within the interior.

The pantry wall came down to open the layout entirely, and what emerged is a kitchen built around real life.

Copper detailing and handmade gold handles highlight the wood’s natural beauty, while timber doors reveal bespoke whisky bottles nestled in leather-lined bases embossed with the House of Hazelwood logo.

To complete the transformation, we exposed an internal brick wall, which added character, and enhanced the lighting with lime-oiled Elm accents, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

Our challenge was to design a small kitchen with a spacious working area, maximising the abundance of natural light streaming through a full-height glass wall while complementing the architectural character of the 1960s home. To enhance brightness, we chose Ash, a light-reflecting timber that brings warmth and openness to the space.
