Our client’s brief:

Our brief was to work with architects Jestico + Whiles to design an innovative and distinctive wine tasting area, expertly crafted to elevate the wine tasting experience for our client, W Edinburgh. We collaborated closely with Whitewall Marketing who expertly managed the project from start to finish.

We created an immersive environment for guests where the W Lounge sommelier could showcase the hotel’s prestigious collection of wines. We created a structure that would elegantly float 540 bottles of wine and bathe them in a warm inviting light. We hid the internal struts behind vertical LED lights, and framed the entire structure with beautiful, full-width Scottish Elm precisely engineered to hide the structural elements.

The floating look of the wine rack was achieved by meticulously measuring 21 different bottles to ensure the invisible cradles would work for all. The wine rack provided the perfect backdrop for our showpiece: a world-first Onyx table, featuring a broken copper-filled edge, up-lit by a full-area light pad. This stunning design became the centrepiece of the space as a striking focal point.
