Workshop
In our workshop, located in the Southside of Glasgow, we use machinery originally designed to work on solid wood more than a hundred years ago. While the core function remains the same, the equipment has been upgraded with modern technology to ensure commercial viability, precision, and safety. Our workshop is a bright, daylight-filled space, fostering creativity and a cheerful, collaborative atmosphere.
Muirend home
We warmly invite clients to visit our workshop, where they can experience their project firsthand, observe the various stages of craftsmanship, and meet the skilled artisans involved. Clients often have the opportunity to engage with the process, such as selecting specific wood boards, and they can also meet our design team to discuss their vision and ideas.
Design process
We work closely with clients to fully understand their vision and aspirations. From there, we create hand sketches and 3D visuals to bring the concept to life. Throughout the process, the client and designer collaborate to refine the design until it’s complete. As a 100% bespoke service, we offer clients the flexibility to have as much input as they wish, ensuring the final result perfectly suits their needs.
Wood & sustainability
All the wood used in our furniture, kitchens, and projects is sourced from responsibly managed woodlands, including windblown, aged, or woodland-managed trees. Trees that have reached the end of their natural life are carefully felled when their roots lose strength, which could otherwise pose a risk to surrounding trees or infrastructure. We also recognise that tree disease is part of nature’s natural cycle, rather than an untimely or unjust demise for the trees.
Trees capture and store carbon throughout their lives through the process of carbon sequestration, with up to 50% of a tree’s weight being stored in the form of carbon. By using this wood in our projects, we help retain that carbon long term, contributing to a more sustainable design process. This approach helps minimise the environmental impact of our work. Additionally, by sourcing our wood from responsibly managed forests, we support sustainable practices that ensure the continued health and resilience of our forests for future generations.
Manufacturing techniques
With decades of experience, we specialise in working with solid wood to create exceptional furniture and architectural elements. Our approach combines traditional construction methods that allow the wood to naturally move over time. We’ve invested in specialised machinery and equipment to enhance efficiency, making this time-intensive craft commercially viable. When incorporating other unique materials, such as bespoke glass and metalwork, we collaborate closely with skilled artisans to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship.
