Our client’s brief:
To create a sensational central staircase, doors, kitchen, and wardrobes for our client’s new build villa in Portugal. We set out to retain the beautiful, large and bright space by creating a ‘floating’ staircase, we chose to use our Elm and glass nature design, this allows us to use some natural edges, etching the falling leaves on the glass panels and ‘free fall’ the handrail continuously from top to bottom removing any newel post requirement. We selected from our Scottish Elm stocks to create a balance of colour and character, punctuating the bottom sweeping drop of handrail and the vertical glass styles.
