Bouzy Rouge - Where it all began:
These early projects launched Paul Hodgkiss’s signature craftsmanship and organic design style into Glasgow’s vibrant bar and restaurant scene of the early 1990s.
Top chef Allan Brown and his wife Audrey approached Paul with a vision for their first restaurant in Coatbridge - a space that embraced reclaimed wood and characterful materials. Paul was given creative freedom to bring his vision to life, drawing on his love for natural edges and art nouveau forms.
Working alongside ironworker John Bell, the original Bouzy Rouge was born - a theatrical, richly detailed interior that left a lasting impression. Its success led to two more locations in Glasgow and Edinburgh, each echoing the same bold style. Even the bathrooms were designed as immersive spaces, crafted with elm, oak, and sycamore.
The restaurant’s unique interiors sparked a wave of private commissions, with diners seeking custom furniture to bring the same warmth and drama into their own homes.
