Kilts Pins & Sgian Dubh

Kilts Pins & Sgian Dubh are perfect pieces of Scottish wedding tradition. There are many special places in Scotland; one of which is an area stretching from Bridge of Orchy to Glen Etive. It starts at the beautiful mountain Buachaille Etive Mor , runs down the glen Etive, by Loch Etive and crosses over to Black Mount and into Bridge of Orchy.

I chose a special small part of this route, looked at the ordinance survey map, the contour lines could have been the grain of my favourite wood, Elm. Some things are meant to be!

The flow of the contour lines are re-created in the cast and inlaid silver, carefully laser etched into the Elm. The Damascus steel of the Sgian dubh blade remarkably resembles the same grain and contour line.
