Client: Brodick Bar, Arran
Client Brief & Solution:
To turn around an old and tired interior to his restaurant on the isle of Arran.
Paul introduced the natural flow and shape of the surrounding landscape and sea by using solid timbers, to screen and section a very large space for intimacy for diners, a mixture of Elm and glass to design and create this interior, shaped screens sectioned off to provide a more intimate atmosphere in what was a very large space. Paul then repeated this language through the bar, doors and walls. He used leather for the fixed seating, making sure that the ‘fixed ‘ seating was designed in such a way that it was conceived as ‘furniture’.
The soft curves and flow language allowed Paul to break down the linear and harsh nature of the existing space, thus creating an atmosphere of natural balance with the nature all around the restaurant and a tactile, interesting and comfortable place to wind away the hours and enjoy the very good homemade food.
